The Wiggum Scale

A recurring The Solid Verbal segment for rating the heartbreak level of college football moments, named after Ralph Wiggum from The Simpsons — specifically the scene where he says "I'm in danger" after being publicly humiliated on the Krusty the Clown TV show.

Rating System

  • Full Wiggum — Maximum heartbreak. The moment broke a fan's season, had high stakes, and often involved a rivalry or historically significant context.
  • Semi-Wiggum — Significant heartbreak but missing one of the key elements (stakes, context, rivalry).
  • In Danger — Heartbreaking but not season-defining.
