Thick Upper Crust

Ty's pizza metaphor for a conference whose contender class is wide rather than narrowly top-heavy. The 2026 SEC is the first explicit case: seven teams occupy the hosts' top two tiers, making the league's upper layer closer to Detroit-style pizza than a thin New York slice.

Current Show Posture

As of 2026-08-24:

The frame distinguishes contender volume from singular dominance. Georgia and Texas remain the cleanest teams, but Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and LSU create enough credible playoff paths that the SEC's reputation cannot be reduced to whether one team wins the national title.

The playoff-prediction episode makes the resume problem explicit: Ty puts five SEC teams in his field while Dan leaves room for a cleaner Texas Tech record to outrank a 9-3 SEC team. The nine-game schedule increases the conference's playoff volume and its internal-loss problem at the same time.
