Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Independent program. 2025 season started 0-2 after losses to Miami and Texas A&M (41-40, on a botched extra point hold by Tyler Buchner). Recovered to go 11-1 and reach the playoffs before losing to Miami. Would have made playoffs with a win over A&M early in the season.

Current Show Posture

As of 2026-06-10:

Notre Dame is now a recurring 2026 contender-calibration argument for the show. Bill Connelly's top-three-or-four roster claim, the Miami/Notre Dame Heisman-elimination framing, and the Sark Tank overrated pitch all point to the same tension: schedule skepticism is real, but the roster's quarterback-plus-lines profile is too strong to dismiss as a mirage.

The current posture is mostly bullish. Andy Staples rejects the overrated pitch outright, and Dan only buys a small 10-12% slice because he still wants to see more obvious receiver/tight-end/skill-name explosiveness in a January scoring environment. Even that small concern is nested inside broader confidence that CJ Carr, Marcus Freeman, Mike Denbrock, and the line-of-scrimmage strength give Notre Dame one of the country's safest playoff profiles.
