Florida has moved from "interesting but maybe a 2027 story" into Ty's pre-preview over-6.5 lane. Richard Johnson's patience caveat still matters because quarterback, tackle, and offensive identity are unresolved, but Ty now sees enough defensive foundation, skill talent, and Jon Sumrall edge to win ugly in 2026.

The show is not treating Florida as clean. The schedule lacks a long soft pocket, and the offense may need time. The current posture is that a top-20-ish roster with a defensive spine can still grind to seven wins if Sumrall and Brad White make the Gators harder to play than the Billy Napier-era comparison implied.
