Under NCAA investigation after discovery of thousands of small bets via a gambling app, including some on Indiana games during 2022 (when he was on the roster but not playing). Sorsby is no longer the 2026 Texas Tech ceiling switch; he is the portal-era risk case after the exit. The show still refuses to simplify the story into "Texas Tech was dumb to buy the quarterback." The prior posture holds that he was a rational upside swing in a thin market, but the combination of gambling investigation, legal strategy, Big 12 enforcement, and public backlash turned him into an untenable college-football asset.

The June 18 episode treats his departure from Texas Tech and pursuit of the NFL Supplemental Draft as the least bad ending.
