Oregon internal hires must raise the ceiling

Context

The show is not worried about Oregon being good. The roster is loaded, Dante Moore came back into an open championship window, and the defense has enough returning front and Chris Hampton continuity to keep the floor high.

The issue is whether internal promotion solves the problem Oregon actually has. Drew Mehringer can preserve the Will Stein structure, but the January test is adjustment: does the offense bring enough new answers for elite opponents, pass-rush stress, and playoff rematches? If Oregon simply repeats the same regular-season strength and runs into the same final-step wall, the internal hire becomes the natural place to look.
