New Mexico is the fun Mountain West upset case

The Solid Verbal

"It's June 10th. I'm calling it now: New Mexico pulling the upset."

Context

Dan uses the new-G6 pitch to push New Mexico and Jason Eck back into the show's preview vocabulary. The case is not built on certainty about the roster; it is built on a weaker Mountain West, Eck's quick Year 1 competitiveness, and a Week 3 trip to Oklahoma after the Sooners play Michigan.

The upset call is intentionally fun and low-confidence, but it matters because New Mexico has now appeared in multiple vault episodes as a weirdly attractive Mountain West watch item. Bill Connelly supplied the spring "love my guy AK" framing, the calendar episode named the Oklahoma sandwich spot, and Sark Tank turns that into the emotional-investment version of the same idea.

This does not make New Mexico the cleanest playoff pick. It makes the Lobos the show's preferred chaos-stock inside the broader G6 chase.
