Minnesota's Fleck floor makes 5.5 look low
Context
Ty admits his Minnesota soft spot, but both hosts find 5.5 surprisingly low. The Gophers carry strong returning production, Drake Lindsey and Darius Taylor give the offense real continuity, and P.J. Fleck has repeatedly navigated Minnesota to six, seven, or eight wins when the season is not derailed.
The caveat is road performance. Minnesota went 7-0 at home and 0-4 in true road games the prior year, and the 2026 path requires improvement away from Minneapolis. Dan still likes the schedule shape because Minnesota misses Ohio State and Oregon and catches several opponents in physically or emotionally awkward spots.
The show lands over because the number asks Minnesota to be worse than the usual Fleck floor. There are offensive explosiveness and defensive-backfield questions, especially after losing Koi Perich, but 5.5 still looks like an underpricing of program competence.
