The hosts frame the bracket as an exercise they have to do because the season is about to begin, not as a reliable forecast. Last year's fields missed several teams, and the current bracket is likely to age badly once injuries, quarterback changes, and schedule results arrive. The value is the receipt: the show is willing to put its assumptions in public before the evidence appears.
