Virginia Tech Hokies

ACC program. Last 8-win season was 2019. The Brent Pry era was defined by stagnation. James Franklin hired in 2026 with a $229M athletics investment behind him. Brent Pry retained as DC — an unusual choice with an open question: does better talent make him better, or is it still Brent Pry? Notable Penn State pipeline of recruits and transfers brought in. 2026 schedule features a favorable early stretch (VMI, ODU, BC, at Maryland) before the schedule hardens in the back half (at Clemson, at SMU, at Miami).

Current Show Posture

As of 2026-06-16:

Virginia Tech remains one of the show's most interesting 2026 transplant builds. The old 3-9 baseline matters less because Franklin has changed the talent acquisition, organization, and external interest quickly enough that this no longer reads like a slow year-one rebuild.

The schedule keeps the Franklin proof burden intact. A fast start is available through VMI, ODU, Maryland, Boston College, Pitt, Cal, and Georgia Tech, but the road games at Clemson, SMU, and Miami will decide whether the new era is merely bowl-viable or actually narrative-changing.
