Saban Stat Lines Are No Longer Obtainable
Cole Cubelic
Nick Saban statistics are not obtainable in today's college athletics. They're just not. Neither are maybe even Urban Meyer's at Florida or a laundry list of other Tom Osborne's at Nebraska — not going to be replicated. Bobby Bowden at Florida State is not doable again. It just isn't.
Context
Cole's framing for why the SEC's "championship drought" conversation doesn't compute. The historical benchmarks fan bases use (Saban, Meyer, Osborne, Bowden) were built in a different sport. The roster construction, retention, depth, and "have you defeated when we take the field" mindset that made them possible no longer exists.
The argument cuts directly at the Alabama fan-base expectations around Kalen DeBoer: the "comparative game" Crimson Tide fans keep playing is broken because the ceiling itself moved.
