Bowl season still has holiday utility
Context
Dan's defense of bowls is social rather than competitive. A holiday party, office gathering, or family visit can become easier because there is a game on in the corner, even if the bowl itself does not change the national-title race.
The show separates this from the usual "bowls are meaningless" discourse. Ratings and stakes matter, but the lived value of bowl season also includes its ability to give fans a neutral object of attention when a room gets awkward or overfull.
