The quirks are cultural infrastructure

Context

The episode's longest middle stretch is a catalog of things that are not exactly analysis but still make the sport feel like itself: visors, pylon cams, ref cams, turnover props, weird eye black, testy press conferences, sideline-warning cutaways, coach disbelief posture, predictable coordinator tells, bad network-window sales jobs, academic insults, service academy death marches, broadcast grill shots, and the brief hope of a desperation lateral.

The show's point is cumulative. College football is not only roster construction and playoff access. Its texture is built out of small rituals, broadcast habits, fan tics, and repeated absurdities that become part of what fans miss when the sport is away.
